StudioLive quality

So, has anybody compared the StudioLive to other, high-end, digital boards like Digico, Studer, Midas etc. for quality?

I got a 16.4.2 for a new year's gig, and ran outof inputs... so treded it in for a 24 (thanks Sweetwater!) and have done one groupd four times - each time they have said great sound, better than ever! I've worked with them for over ten years so that is a serious comment. It helps that each gig I start with the last preset and improve it... VERY happy with it!

@ Don - I took mine out two days after I received it and set up a corporate gig with mains, 2 delay towers, and a foldback for Q&A. I had worked the room prior so I knew where the nasties were, but it was such a breeze to set up I thought I was missing something.

I took it out on a monitor job last Labor Day with bands that I had worked with in the past. They liked it better too.

I honestly have not had one disappointment with it. Not sure about the rider thing though (although I have had a few bands come out to "take a peek" at the desk). It may take a year or so before it comes up on a rider anywhere.

@ Don ~ The info pack I picked up at the PreSonus booth at NAMM says,
"We've begun to incorporate Rational Acoustics' highly regarded Smaart Measurement Technology
directly into Virtual StudioLive, begining with Smaart Spectra in UC 1.6 later this spring."
So curse Puxatony Phil for saying when spring is!  In the meantime know that it will come, it will work and it will be for all the StudioLive mixers. I have seen it on a demo computer and can't wait!  Whenever your SL24's arrive, know that at some point they will be ready to do whatever you ask of them!

Ive used the console twice both times I was impressed with the quickness you could get setup, and running, and used for Monitors or FOH etc or a combinaton of both the Smarrt feature will be a major addition to anyone needing it. Im never the early adopter but I feel its been around long enough now to be a proven workhorse for anything I do....I would feel comfortable doing any band, any on these consoles and feel they can fill riders and meet rider needs.

Oh THAT would be ever so cool!

Attaboy PreSonus!!!!!  Show the 'big boys' exactly how it's supposed to be done!!!

@ Jim - you're right - I guess that's what I meant.  All the StudioLive consoles will be able to interface with that version of VSL, which will include Smaart.  I've heard rumors that Spectra will be viewable on iPads...that'd be geeky...I love it!

@CJ - Wasn't it supposed to be part of VSL?  It won't be able to 'run' on the SL's, will it?

@ Don - the Rational Acoustics Smaart Spectra will be a simple firmware update for the current generation of consoles.

Hey all - just letting you know there's an official PreSonus rep in the group if you have specific questions. Feel free to email/call directly - I'm not terribly fast with social media conversation threads...
