Hi, we did a 24 track recording over the weekend on 8/13/11 at the Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale for Elvis tribute show Chris MacDonald and his band Memories of Elvis. It was a big band including backing vocals, bass, 2 guitars, keyboard, drums, full horn section and Chris "Elvis" on stage makes 13 performers. Everything went really smooth, the band and stage crew there was excellent. When I got back to my studio and loaded the tracks onto my Pro Tool 9 rig I found the tracks came out really great, I will be able to edit this 10th anniversary show into a fantastic live CD.

Thanks, Gary Butler

Gary,

Yes, higher sample rates can reduce the latency. If you double the sample rate, then the same size buffer becomes effectively half what it was. In most cases the smallest buffer is 32 samples, which at 48 KHz is .67 ms, but at 96 KHz it is .33 ms. Higher sample rates tend to increase the overall quality of the sound in many small but cumulatively important areas, such as frequency response and a generally more accurate representation of the waveform. Just be aware that you also double the amount of digital data that the firewire buss and the processor have to handle. I tried 96 KHz, but for the same latency 48 KHz was a little bit more stable, so I went with that. Once I upgrade to firewire interfaces, I will re-test and see if I can't get the sample rate up and the latency down. Let me know how things go and what you hear back from Waves in answer to your questions.

Hey Gary, thanks great to hear. I use it on every gig now too. Its really unbelievable. I'm saving time, everything sounds better and I got so much less to carry around. I use it a lot with my band and we just take chains direct from our mixes to use at shows. Much easier to run then i thought it would be.

Hey Gary,
We did eventually get an M400 system. I like it alright. I think were it my choice I would have gone with a Yamaha. I don't have any complaints about the sound, but not having regular groups is a real weakness with my mixing style and the DCA groups were an afterthought, with very little control of them onboard (mostly done through the PC software). Additionally, while the effects are better than those of the TT24 we replaced, I'm just not very happy with them. I can't really say why, it's just something about the sound of their reverb.

Hi Gary,

I am not sure I completely understand the question. Are you asking if we have contractor-only pricing on gear? If so, yes! Or are you asking if we have a program for people to become a salesperson for the company? If so yes to that too! Would love to talk with you further regarding either.
