Love Italian Style the R C F TT series

Posted on May 28, 2010 at 7:30pm 3 Comments

I work at a small university in Virginia we have 5000 students in the last 10 years they have built $500,000,000 in new buildings. We have 4 theaters and are adding another the largest is 1700+ with the new theater we are trying to have gear that can move any where we need on campus and the TT series is the choice.
In the main Hall we have tours of every kind come through so I get to hear just about every rig there is and in a room that sounds real good. Last month I got my hands on the…

If I'm not mistaken - these guys are in your neck of the woods. NYC & LA have fantastic rental houses but you might want to check out these guys.

LOL! 'Headphone Envy'... that's a new one. But you are correct, the engineers that come through the club all say the same thing... 'Wow, can I use those?".

Post away! Also email / pm me your snail mail address. I must send you my new test CD. The page which explains it is here:
http://www.soundoctor.com/testcd
There's also (ahem) a white paper on white noise, here:
http://www.soundoctor.com/testcd/whitenoise.htm

The out-of-phase summing works spectacularly well AND (it's a win-win situation) cancels the residual hum!. The only caveat is both sources need to be either transformer isolated (if you can afford it or get away with it) or at least be really good cross-coupled balanced output sections.
I'll post you a secret drawing if you like.

Digital (in general) is like boob jobs. It looks great on paper but rarely works well in real life. Also, women and audio should be flat, but often with a house curve of 1dB/octave above 1k. Seriously, (wait, I WAS being serious) iti's not so much the perceptual quality of digital, which is getting much better; rather it's the group delay, which makes it impossible for HUMANS to work with it. The faster the processors get, the more crap people will try to do with them, so the net result is more group delay, not less... it's the same nonsense as operating systems: so what if the CPU is 3 x as fast; the OS is 4 times slower. And when all is said and done, neither an analog nor a digital board is going to fix tasteless audio or music.

Hi Ketch.....thanks for your note. You are SO right about dynamics....and wireless. Thanks to my great ham radio buddy Joe Walsh who invited me to build him some better mics, the industry NOW has dynamics that REALLY play - just as you have discovered. We have also changed the wireless world with the new RC 22 and RC 35 replacmenet capsules. You will NEVER use another SM capsule. NEVER ! Please drop me a line at Bob@heilsound.com....tell you much more. Thanks!
