Mark Waker replied to Roger Ortell's discussion humming on speakers
"Connect speakers to amp (don't connect mixer), turn on amp and turn it up. Does it hum? If yes, it's your amp, if no, connect mixer, one channel at a time with all gain controls turned down. If it hums now it is likely a ground issue. If…"

Speaker Pioneer passes at 94 http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/18/business/edgar-m-villchur-hi-fi-innovator-dies-at-94.html?_r=1&smid=fb-share

Without Edgar Villchur, I doubt our industry would be a s large and as productive as it is. His inventions brought hi-fi into the home and spurred Saul Marantz, H.H. Scott, McIntosh and Peter Walker to build bigger better amplifiers. RIP. See More

"Driverack PA does not have delay, only driver alignment. Ashly 3.6 has good audio, good service from factory around $900 street. No sniggering, but the Behringer DCX 2496 offers 3 in 6 out with delays and is around $350 and no it doesn't sound…"

Mark Waker replied to James Daniels's discussion Line Array systems. Which is the 'proverbial' best?
"I wonder how much a Milo box costs? $15k each? And you will need more of them, and that takes up more space in the truck etc. etc. Carbon footprint would definitely be larger for conventional vs. MLA."

Mark Waker replied to James Daniels's discussion Line Array systems. Which is the 'proverbial' best?
"Well this is where the chops of the engineer come into play, to deliver the performance that the artist wants to deliver. You wouldn't want a quiet Metallica show (and Mick wouldn't give you one anyway) not would you want an overly loud…"

Mark Waker replied to James Daniels's discussion Line Array systems. Which is the 'proverbial' best?
"The reason you want to strive for equal SPL throughout a venue is because everyone is paying for a seat and should ideally get the same experience. By all accounts, MLA enables the system to be run at a lower SPL overall because of it's…"

"We installed them (Ashly ne 8250) at a very prestigious hotel in Boston to replace 42 rack spaces of other stuff. Just fantastic. House is EAW JF 80 and JF 60 plus EV ceiling speakers, all low impedance, long cable runs but no problems. We have the…"

Mark I totally agree with you. I've purchased Behringer gear that still works fine. Does exactly what they said it would do, hasn't broken down and has more than paid for my initial investment. People need to get over it. I love the Midas consoles. I believe this may be the best thing for them. I remember when people would make snide comments about japanese cars. Maybe it's time we stop looking at the name and look at the product.
