miking harp

Soon I have to mix a band that is a mix of modern music played on baroque instruments.I have been to a couple rehearsals and it really blew me away;Now I have to mix this band for a series of concerts.So, I am looking for ideas to mike up : a harp, a Theorbe and a viola da gamba.Please, if anyone has ideas.....I was thinking of : viola da gamba :  Josephson c42 or beyer m160                             theorbe:  microtech gefell                             harp .....??? dpa + ??pls let me…See More

When i first started mixing on digital boards, way back on o3d an o2r, I discovered that you can time-aline a whole band , i.e. mike per mike and create a very natural loud sound coming from the band, not from the p.a.: our ears follow the Haas-effect. This was new to me, since i was used to analogue stuff.especially a jazzbands or classical music profited, imo, from this. I used it also on rockbands but then I did not delay the drums or the vocals, for loss of power.

Thank you for the kind words....I entered the market in 1966 when little Wem and Vocalmaster columns were king. Thinking THAT is NOT getting it, I acquired some 16' Olson bins (like martin bins), McIntosh amps, built a mixer and we were off and running. How did I know we were all alone out there...we are doing the same with dynamic micorphones. Time for the 40 year old technogoy to go away!....Walsh guided me through the tonal barriers and here we are! Life is fun - stay in touch, please
