TRADE SHOWS???

With NAMM right around the corner, I was wondering what trade shows some of you attend or like to attend???

Winter (or Summer) NAMM? ... Musikmesse/ProLight+Sound?

AES (Euro or USA)? ... InfoComm?

PLASA (UK)? ... PALA (Asia)? ... LDI?

other regional/specialized shows?

And for shows that change locations, do you wait for it to come closer to you or are there some on your must-do list that you always attend?

Back in the old days when it moved around (Dallas, Atlanta, etc) to cities that couldn't handle events of that size, NAB was an absolute nightmare. Now why it has to overlap Musikmesse this year is another question entirely. It would be amazing of some of these major tradeshows actually worked together...

Comment by Greg Cameron on January 14, 2013 at 1:39pm: I like to attend NAB as the company I work for by day throws the biggest party in Vegas for that show ;-) But that's about the only reason. Generally I loath them due to the crowds. Seeing some of the new stuff is cool, but most of the info you need can be found online these days when new gear is released. And there isn't usually an opportunity at these shows for real "hands on" or solid demonstrations.

At least the ones on the shoulder seasons (meaning anytime BUT summer) make more sense to me. I think InfoComm is a really good show, but having it happen in mid-June — just as the busy sound season starts picking up and right after/during the school graduation season (a source for a lot of work for regional companies crammed into a 2-week period) seems kinda crazy. And summer is also when a lot of festivals, one-offs, local street fairs, county/state fairs, winery shows, weddings, etc. get going, and for many sound companies, trying to squeeze tradeshow attendance in during that period is rough.
